Reiki Journey
Renée and Amy were introduced to Reiki healing in the summer of 2006 while looking through a local community college’s non-credit course catalogue. Renée had completed her graduate program the previous year and had been working fulltime as an outpatient therapist for children and their families. This course seemed like an opportunity to learn a non-traditional method of healing that could help with self-care that is incredibly important in the field of human services.
Amy’s two sons kept her quite busy but she was able to carve out a little “mom time” and enrolled in the Reiki course with Renée. Amy was admittedly skeptical and experiencing physical pain the night of the first class. A returning student, Master Wendy Rua, offered assistance and Amy’s discomfort was relieved through the healing touch of Reiki. From that moment, Amy has sought to understand and to share the profound healing that takes place through Reiki.
Our reiki training was completed with Reiki Master/Teacher Diane Cote-Tellier, LMT. It was during our first class that Master Diane explained the powerful influence that Reiki has had on her life as well as the impact it has had on the lives of her students. She said “there is life before Reiki and there is life after Reiki”. It was a little hard to believe at the time, but ultimately this has been true for both Renée and Amy. Reiki has become an integral part of their lives. The idea of establishing a healing center where people could benefit from the healing, peace, and joy that Reiki brings became the goal: Möbius was born. Möbius opened for business in the Eastworks building in August of 2007.
